Our church life

Worship-grow-serve

Our Discipleship and Mission

We believe that heart-felt worship opens us in the deepest way to God. As we dwell on his Word to us we grow deeper and stronger, and naturally want to express that in service to the church and the world. As we serve, we see God’s power at work and are inspired to praise and worship even more, and the cycle of growth goes on and on.

One of the courses we run is the Alpha CourseWell known across Britain, this course explains Christian faith and experience in ten sessions. Who is Jesus? Why the Cross?, What about suffering?, Can prayer work ? are all questions that are covered. Each evening starts with a meal at 7.15pm followed by a video and discussion. Contact Paul taylor for details of the next Course.

As part of our growing and discerning the Lord’s will in each of our lives, we use a discipleship tool called ‘Lifeshapes’ to help each church member to develop their walk with Jesus and discover their gifting to serve.

We want to be disciples in our homes, families and relationships, in our workplaces and daily lives. There are many groups in the life of the church that help us to support each other, grow, and reach out to our community. St Francis’ congregation has a long history of community involvement and many members have roles beyond the church, such as serving as street pastors, school governors, charity workers and in local politics.
